‘Make Dinner, Not Waste’ Workshop

Eureka Recycling is partnering with Mississippi Market, in St. Paul to host a “Make Dinner, Not Waste” workshop. It will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on July 31.

To help prevent wasted food, Eureka Recycling has launched a new website at MakeDirtNotWaste.org. Free tools available for download include a meal planner, shopping tools and a food storage guide. Also included are helpful videos and an online chat room to connect with others striving to reduce food waste and save money.

While no one buys food with the intention of throwing it away, recent estimates show that the average household in St. Paul wastes up to $96 worth of food every month. Learning simple ways to shop smarter and store food better helps the environment as well as household budgets.

More workshops will take place in September. If anyone would like to schedule a workshop in their neighborhood, contact Eureka Recycling.

Cost: $5; optional toolkit $15. Location: Mississippi Market, 1500 W. 7th St., St. Paul. Registration required. For more information or to register, call Eureka Recycling at 651-222-7678 or visit MakeDirtNotWaste.org.
