Natural Awakenings Twin Cities

Sustainable We Event July 5

A Sustainable We celebratory event will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., July 5, at Surly Brewery, hosted by mplsGreen.com. Mikki Morrissette, event organizer, is the owner of Be-Mondo Publishing and the creator of mplsGreen.com and the Sustainable We forums.

In recent months, Morrissette has hosted Sustainable We forums wherein more than 120 Minneapolis residents have gathered to talk about pieces of the sustainability puzzle in the Twin Cities. “In isolation we recognize that our piece of the pie is important—whether it is pesticides, air quality, community solar gardens, energy efficiency or zero waste,” she explains. "But how we come together as a community around those issues collaboratively—not in isolation—is important. This celebration is designed to bring us together in conversation as well as to applaud what we are accomplishing. We have many passionate, educated, aware and thoughtful individuals who work on behalf of creating a more sustainable future in our community.”

The event will celebrate three local, entrepreneurial teams that are successfully addressing sustainability issues in holistic ways: Eureka Recycling—the zero waste game; Carbon Zero Home—the zero energy game; Cooperative Energy Futures—the renewable energy game.

Also on the agenda are focused table conversations, music, food, drink and more.

Cost: $20. Registration required at mplsGreen.com. Location: 520 Malcolm Ave. SE, Minneapolis.
