Walking for Warriors 10K in Golden Valley for Cancer Support

Pink Courage will host its first annual Walking for Warriors, a 10K event in Golden Valley on June 29. Registration will begin at 7 a.m.; the opening ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m.; the walk will begin at 9 a.m. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the recognition and closing ceremony will begin at 1 p.m.

The walk will start at Valley View Park (Zenith Avenue North and Vista Drive) and will continue along a scenic route through other Golden Valley parks. Walkers will receive lunch and a Walking for Warriors T-shirt with their registration fee. An onsite store will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the day of the walk.

In addition, those who cannot participate in the walk but would like to participate “in spirit” can still register. “Spirit walkers” will receive a T-shirt and a bracelet, and their names will be included on a “Spirit Walker” sign, which will be on display in the Pink Courage retreat center.

Pink Courage is a nonprofit organization that was founded by Jaime Kastner, Becci Powers-Johnson and Kathy Robb Heins. Its vision is to create a nature sanctuary for people with cancer, cancer survivors and their families, to offer tranquility for healing.
