Move Forward with Greater Ease

Founded by Barb Ryan in 2016, Wisdom Sister Studio provides a space for healing, well-being, exploration, and curiosity as you seek amid the wide-ranging wisdom in living. Here, we nourish body, mind and spirit through harmony, insight and compassion.

One of our most popular services is Wisdom Listening, a rare type of conversation free of advice, action planning, diagnosis, goal setting, or listener bias and it is focused wholly on you. A session permits you to say difficult things, repeat yourself over and over, talk as much about your topic as you need or want. This is not therapy or coaching. You’ll experience a caring presence, feel, and thoughtful questions, reflections and observations intended to help you connect more deeply, with your true self which brings inspiration, satisfaction and glee.

Though the possibilities are many, here are some examples:

Confessions. Secrets are corrosive and telling another frees the body, mind and spirit. It is an age-old secret and key pivot point in 12-step programs and those of us who work the steps know this truth well.

Relationships. Take advantage of this safe place to speak your raw truth and gain clarity and balance for the real conversations that are needed.

Decision-making. Explore issues from different angles and foster insight and inspiration as well as clarity and alignment your True Self which makes decisions easier.

Life challenges. Whether self- or other-imposed, change shifts with great ease when you have support and strong self-connection. Sort through feelings and clarify goals, balance work and life, finding alignment to improve satisfaction - these are examples of how a listening session can support and assist.

Life changes. The passing of a loved one brings an often unrecognized loss - with whom will I share the day’s news? Who will listen to me speak endlessly about the hopes, dreams, and worries I have about my kids? Listening sessions fill this gap while new sources of support and connection are found.

Barb Ryan is a certified Spiritual Director, provider of therapeutic bodywork, a 12-stepper with double digit years of sobriety, a fan and follower of Marshall Rosenberg’s work with non-violent communication and a member of Yvette Erasmus’ membership community. When Wisdom Sister Studio closed for the pandemic in April, 2020, a number of my clients shifted to Zoom calls to keep connection during quarantine and beyond. This is how Wisdom Listening began.

Message from Barb "Welcome friends! As way of introduction, I am a professional listener. Listening has been at the core of my work for more than 40 years. No matter the setting or role, listening well has made all the difference. Once I experienced this type of listening so focused on me, I incorporated it into all the work I do. Won’t you join me?"
