Arboretum Unveils Sculpture Garden of Contemporary Works

Sculpture Garden

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, in Chanhassen, announces a new addition: the Harrison Sculpture Collection. The collection will have its public opening on August 24 and 25.

The collection comprises 22 works (plus three arriving in the future) by such internationally acclaimed contemporary artists as Mimmo Paladino, Paul Granlund, Rene Kung, George Rickey and Barbara Hepworth, among others. The sculptures were generously donated by philanthropists Alfred Harrison and Ingrid Lenz Harrison of Wayzata, who have spent their married life building the collection of works by artists from around the world, including Italy, England, Zimbabwe and Argentina.

The collection’s opening weekend will feature curator-led tours, family art activities, sculptor and painting demos and music on site.

Cost: $12; free for children 12 and younger; free for members. Location: 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chanhassen. For more information, call 952-443-1400 or visit Arboretum.umn.edu.
