Beyond Belief Walk for Peace at Mall of America
The Beyond Belief Walk for Peace will take place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on November 16 at the Mall of America. People from all faith denominations and backgrounds are encouraged to join this free event, a 1.5-mile walk for peace inside the mall.
According to founder and organizer Michelle Ploog, the vision of the Beyond Belief Walk is to bring people together in a walk to celebrate peace and harmony for all. “Each person’s participation in this walk is important and valued, because it takes each of us committing to peace for peace to be created in our world,” Ploog says.
There are three tiers of peace for the walk, she explains: peace with oneself, peace with one’s community and peace with belief systems and communities that differ from one’s own. “We believe that peace is created through love, understanding and accepting differences,” Ploog says. “We show our acceptance by walking together and thus create peace.”
The purpose of the walk is to bring people from all religions, spiritual and non-spiritual traditions, ethnicities, cultures and communities together to promote peace. “The walk aims to promote acceptance and love of all people to develop equality, human rights and common good in the world,” Ploog says.
