Food and Farms Weekend in Sandstone

The Audubon Center of the North Woods, in Sandstone, is offering a Food and Farms Weekend, April 4 through 6.  The weekend begins at 5 p.m. on Friday and ends at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Participants can “get back to the basics” and learn new skills with this all-inclusive weekend focused on the most elemental of our needs and pleasures: Food. Events will center around growing, raising, preserving, preparing and tasting food.

The weekend includes a variety of on-site workshops led by experts on gardening, cooking and food preservation; off-site field trips to visit local farms and meet farmers who are growing produce and raising animals naturally and organically; and renowned evening presenters Chef Monique Hooker and Chef Lucia Watson.

On-site accommodations include comfortable lodging (two nights), delicious, made-from scratch meals (two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners); pre-dinner social and appetizers; and access to the Audubon Center’s 535 acres and more than seven miles of trails.

Cost: Full rate is $245 to $295 per adult, $160 per child (age 5 to 12); commuter rate is $215 per adult, $140 per child. Register and pay in full by March 4 for 10-percent discount.
