Meatless Monday in Richfield Public Schools

This fall, Richfield Public Schools initiated a Meatless Monday pilot program for its elementary students, thanks to the efforts of schoolteacher and Compassionate Action for Animals volunteer Julie Knopp, who worked with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) in making this happen.

Whether in school districts, hospitals, colleges or corporate campuses, the health, cost savings, animal welfare and environmental benefits of Meatless Monday are well established and to be celebrated. Many families also participate in Meatless Mondays at home.

The HSUS Minnesota is working with Compassionate Action for Animals to co-host a training in Minneapolis in January 2018 to equip volunteers with the information and resources needed to approach their own school or workplace with positive food reform.
