Salt therapy, or halotherapy, provide natural healing properties that Europeans have utilized since the 1800s, and the practice continues to thrive today. Treatments dating back to the salt mines in Poland, and it has gained popularity in the U.S. for its remarkable health benefits. This therapeutic approach involves spending time in salt rooms, where micro-particles of dry salt are dispersed into the air. While more research is needed, it has been shown to be especially effective for individuals with respiratory conditions like asthma, allergies, bronchitis and COPD.

Salt Therapy for Inflammation, Asthma and Allergies

Dry salt particles are antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and ultra-absorbent. As they are inhaled, they stick to foreign elements like a sponge, helping clear the respiratory system of allergens and toxins and thin mucus, making it easier to expel. Dr. Norman Edelman of the American Lung Association explains that the fine salt particles, when inhaled, land on the airway linings, drawing water into the airways and thinning mucus, providing relief for conditions like asthma. A cleaner respiratory system naturally supports higher oxygen intake and thus, improved immunity and energy.

Salt Therapy for Skin Health

In addition to respiratory and immune health benefits, smaller salt particles promote detoxification and absorb bacteria and impurities on the skin, which can alleviate issues like acne, psoriasis and eczema. This therapy offers a complementary treatment that can work alongside conventional health care and current health habits to improve overall well-being. Salt therapy can help  those with allergies, asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, COPD and more.

A Restful Sensory Experience

Halotherapy provides not only health benefits, but also a unique and restful sensory experience. The tranquil atmosphere of salt rooms, often dimly lit and featuring salt-lined walls, creates a soothing environment that supports relaxation and stress reduction, contributing to improved nervous, lymphatic, and immune system health. Europeans have utilized the natural healing properties of salt since the 1800s, and the practice continues to thrive today.
